What is Depression?
Depression can take many forms, often showing up as emotional and mental pain, and feelings of isolation, disconnection, and shame. It can leave us physically drained, mentally foggy, and struggling at times to complete even the simplest of tasks. For some, it feels like a persistent, low-grade sadness that lingers in the background, while for others, it brings waves of deep despair. Thoughts like “Things will never get better,” “Why bother?” or “There’s something wrong with me” are common.
Depression can be incredibly painful, and its impact is often compounded by the way it drains our energy and clouds our thinking, making it difficult to see a path forward. But no matter how overwhelming it may feel, I truly believe that healing is always possible. With the right support, understanding, and tools, anyone can move toward greater clarity, connection, and a renewed sense of meaning in life…
Counselling for the healing of depression
Every person who comes to see me is on a unique healing journey, which makes it difficult to generalize how the therapeutic process will unfold. However, what remains constant is my commitment to creating a safe, supportive space where you can be heard, understood, and accepted exactly as you are. This alone can be profoundly relieving and even healing—especially for those who may not have experienced this kind of caring attention in the past.
When you feel ready, we will explore perspectives and processes designed to improve your mental well-being and resilience. Our work together will be collaborative, as together we will discover the tools that are most effective for you. We will practice these tools in our sessions and establish a framework to help you integrate them into your daily life.
At the heart of all psychological healing is our ability to shift our perspective. The good news is that new ways of seeing are always available. Together, we will explore the most meaningful and effective ways to facilitate such shifts, helping you develop a fresh, empowered view of yourself and your life.
I draw from a range of cognitive, relational, and body-based approaches that I have found to be particularly effective—both in my work with clients and in my own personal healing and growth. Some of the most well-researched and impactful methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Self-Compassion and Inner Child Work, Somatic Experiencing, and Breathwork. A blend of these approaches will naturally find its way into our work together, with the goal of integrating them into your everyday life.
